St. Peter's will be celebrating Rogation Sunday on May 17.
In the ancient church's tradition, the rector and the people of a parish processed around the boundaries of the parish and asked God's blessings on the fields, streams and forests of that land. This procession took place the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday before Ascension Day.
As our procession walks the boundaries of the church property, we are symbolically circumnavigating the boundaries of our parish. This includes the islands of Baranof, Biorka, Chichagof, and the water between.
The procession will take place immediately following the 11:00 Eucharist.
